Diamond League: IAAF cuts 200m and three other events from ‘core’ list

Diamond League meetings will now no longer just the 200m, three,000m steeplechase, discus or triple bounce at all of its events in 2020.

Athletics’ governing physique the IAAF said it did assessment on the status of events and wished to lower the size of meetings for a “ninety-minute broadcast”.

There shall be 12 disciplines staged at every of the 15 Diamond League meetings.

The three,000m steeplechase and 200m will just at 10 meetings, whereas two will stage the discus and triple bounce.

None of the 4 disciplines eradicated from the ‘core’ checklist will gain section of the Diamond League Final in Zurich in September.
